Long time, no post

Hello everyone. Sorry for the long delay in posting, we've been really busy around here. Mom and Dad have been busy buying stuff for the house and getting my playroom set up. I went to the doctor on Monday to get a shot and when they weighed me I was 8 pounds 4 ounces. I haven't gained as much weight in the last week as I should have. I'm going back to the doctor on Friday for a weight check.

My breathing treatments are going well, here's a pic of me doing it all by myself...kind of. I'm also starting to like playing more and more. Mom and I are playing with different toys every day. We have just recently discovered my piano. I love hitting the keys and hearing the music I create.
Mommy has set up my baptism date for Saturday April 28th at First Lutheran Church in Maquoketa. I will be baptised during the evening service which is at 6pm. Anyone who would like to attend can just come to the church at 6pm. We will gather afterwards for cake and company...details will follow.

That's all I have for now, we have one more weekend before the storm. March is full, Gma Kris and friends will be coming the first weekend, then Gma and Gpa Otteman and Dad's brothers will be here the next weekend. The third weekend will be really rough, it is Mommy's first weekend back at work, I sure hope Daddy can handle me on his own. The next weekend, Gpa Larson is here, then the final weekend Mommy works AGAIN. Hopefully April will be a little slower. Take care everyone, I'll leave you with a picture of my beautiful smile.

Breath of Fresh Air (Albuterol)

Today was a big day, I had my appointment at U of MI Hospital. We learned a lot today. I was 20 and 3/8 inches long and I weighed in at 7 pounds 11 ounces. My weight gain is still going very well. They showed Mom and Dad a few treatments to begin. First, I have a nebulizer with Albuterol. This medicine helps break up the thick mucus in my lungs. I'll use the nebulizer twice a day for my whole life. Here are a couple pics of my first treatment tonight.

The next thing we learned was the method to help clear the mucus from my lungs. This treatment is called percussion and postural drainage. Mom and Dad will use a small cupped tool to repeatedly hit my chest and back to help break up the mucus on my lungs. There are multiple positions that we must do two or three times a day for the rest of my life as well. When I'm older I'll get a special vest that does the percussion for me. Here are a couple of pictures of Dad doing my first percussion tonight.

Finally we met with a dietician and she explained the "dream diet" to us. I am supposed to eat all the fatty crap I want as I grow up. McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy's, etc. Those terrible foods are actually good for me!! I'll get lots of junk food because it will help me gain weight. I also get a lot of butter and salt with everything!! Dad only wishes he could eat everything I'm going to eat. The doctor's say that good weight gain also helps me have healthy lungs. I'm going to be a junk food junky!!

One last very positive note; the nurse was talking about the adults with CF that they treat at the U. She said they have patients that are 50, 60, and even 70 years old that have CF and come to see them just like me.

Fun Fun Fun

Hello!! It's been an exciting week for me. On Thursday I went out to eat at Panera in Ann Arbor with Mom, Dad, and their friends Scott and Kym Randall. Scott and Kym have a baby boy too. His name is Ben and he's my new friend. I posted a link to his blog before, it is at http://randallfam.livejournal.com/ I'm going to get to see him again in a few weeks at his first B-Day party. Here's a good picture of Ben and I getting to know each other.

It's been really cold here in Michigan so we've been staying inside all weekend. Today, Mommy and Daddy helped me play with some finger paints. They say I'm a really good artist. Here are some pictures of the fun. This first one is the beginning:

This is how I looked when I was done. You have to get a little messy to paint a masterpiece.

Here is the aforementioned masterpiece. Mommy and Daddy are going to frame it and hang it in my gallery. This will be the first of my many valuable paintings.

Today is my 8 week birthday!! Wooohooo 2 months old!! Today is also Superbowl Sunday. Mom is making Chili for dinner during the game. The Indianapolis Colts will be playing the Chicago Bears. We're all rooting for Peyton Manning and the Colts. The game starts in about an hour so I need to get ready. Take care everyone.
